Rules
Parties of 4 play against each other 2v2 in cumulative stroke play clash. Each hole is a drive and possession will alternate each hole. Your party will need to decide who starts on offense by flipping a coin or tee. Then, consider what value you want for the starting target score for the endzone — we recommend +0 (Even) for first-time players.
On each hole, defense tees first. The offense will drive to try and score a TD or FG, with the defense attempting to stop them. The offense will score a TD if they reach the endzone scoring target. If they fall short by 3 or less strokes, they still end up in field goal range. The offense must beat the defense outright to score. Anything else is a turnover on downs.
Should the defense wins the hole, they’ll be rewarded with better field position by adding the number of strokes they won by to the endzone scoring target. This will continually grow over on each hole as possession changes until a team scores, resetting back to the starting value.
Should the offense scores a TD or FG, they have the choice to elect for an onside kick on the next tee. This requires them to tee first and both hit the fairway to steal back possession. Failure to do results in 2 strokes automatically being added to the endzone target score.

Add-ons
Once you play a few times and want to spice it up, consider implementing these additional rules:
Onside Kick
If the offense team scores, they can elect to attempt an onside kick on the next tee. They must both hit the fairway (or green on par 3) to steal possession and remain on offense. If they fail, defense becomes offense and the endzone target increases +3 to simulate improved field position.
Fumble
Off the tee, if the defense both hits the fairway and offense both misses, defense steals possession.
Safety
If the defense beats the offense by 4 or more strokes on a single hole, they win 2 points. The endzone scoring target is reset to +2 the starting value.
Interception
If both offense players lose a ball on the same hole, possession flips mid-hole immediately.
Hail Mary
If any offensive players holes out from off-green, they cannot be stopped by the defense and will automatically score if they get into the endzone or FG range.

Example
The party chooses E as the endzone scoring target and teams up as Bob and Banks (BB) vs. Kevin and Kyle (KK).
Hole 1
BB start on offense with Kevin/Kyle on defense. They play the hole and BB end up shooting bogey/bogey for a net +2. KK shoot par/bogey for a net +1. The offense ended up in FG range, but was stopped the defense. Therefore, KK will be on offense on the next hole and their endzone increases by their win difference of 1 stroke from E to +1.
Hole 2
Since BB are now on defense, they tee first. They play the hole and finish bogey/bogey for net +2, but KK go par/bogey for a net +1. Since the endzone target is +1 and KK on offense wasn't stopped by BB on defense, KK scores the touchdown and gets 7 points.
Hole 3
With a score of 0-7 thru 2 holes, KK are back on defense and tee first. The endzone target is reset to E since someone scored. KK shoot double/double for a net +4, while BB shoots par/bogey for net +1. BB get into FG range and beat the defense, so they score 3 points.
Hole 4
With a score of 3-7 thru 3, BB tee first on defense and shoot par/par for net E, while KK shoot birdie/bogey also for a net E. KK get into the endzone, but BB tied them and defense wins ties so it's a turnover on downs and BB will be on offense next hole.
…
The game will progress in this style until the party decides they've played enough. It's important to note that subsequent defense stops will increase the endzone scoring target which will change strategy and add more pressure on the defense to keep winning or tying offense. Eventually, the endzone scoring target will grow to a value so large that the offense winning will reward a touchdown or field goal.
